Inmarsat, the leading provider of satellite communication services, launched its new IsatPhone Pro Phone at Futurecom 2010 for the Brazilian market. The IsatPhone Pro is Inmarsat’s first global handheld satellite phone. The IsatPhone Pro is a very robust handset offering market leading services and features a low cost very competitive priced unit.
The Brazilian launch of the IsatPhone Pro at Futurecom 2010 in Sao Paulo, Brazil will allow 15 thousand people from 40 countries to learn more information on the phone. Futurecom is known for highlighting new technologies like the IsatPhone Pro.
Johnny Nemes with Inmarsat said at Futurecom 2010 they will be targeting customers in Latin America that have used the Iridium satellite phone for decades. The IsatPhone Pro hardware will sell at half the cost of the Iridium hardware. The IsatPhone Pro service will also be at a lower cost vs. the Iridium service providing virtually the same global coverage excluding only the North and South poles. Mr. Nemes went on to say they are offering a robust, affordable award winning handheld satellite phone for remote environment communication use.
The IsatPhone Pro gives users up to 8 hours talk time and 100 hours standby time on the battery. The headset has secured an IP54 rating. Its operating temperature is from -20 degrees C to +55 degrees C which is the widest temperature range of any satellite phone found in the industry.
Inmarsat is targeting users in the government, rescue, mining, oil and gas and the media. In addition to voice and data service, messaging service and location data can be viewed on the screen. Location data can also be sent in a text message. The IsatPhone Pro includes a fully maneuverable antenna allowing the handset to be placed on its side for data use. It includes a GSM-style interface with a highly visible color screen and a large keypad for easy dialing.
